Additional Programs

INCLUSION SUPPORT

At Lauderdale, we have developed a nationally recognised inclusion support program for children with additional needs. Our educators are trained in the delivery of specific programs and work closely with external agencies to assist children to develop social skills, resilience and a sense of belonging in a supportive and inclusive environment.

BEACH PROGRAM

The aim of our beach program is to provide an opportunity for all Discovery children to imagine, explore and discover in a natural beach setting. When visiting local beaches such as Frederick Henry Bay, Lauderdale Beach, and Roches Beach, children participate in unstructured activities and explore the natural environment. This nature play and connection with the natural environment builds resilience, self-confidence, initiative, creativity and creates healthy, happy minds.

EXCURSION YARD - 'THE BEYOND'

Our service is fortunate to have an extension to our outdoor play environment that we are able to access as an 'excursion yard.' We call this space 'The Beyond' and utilise the area to extend on children's learning in the outdoors by engaging them in experiences such as, tending to the veggie garden, playing in the mud kitchen, caring for our pet chooks and collecting their eggs, climbing and rolling on the hill, and using the fire pit as a focal point for group experiences such as story time and outdoor cooking.

Excursions

The Discovery bus enables regular opportunities to go on excursions and strengthen links with the local community. These excursions expose children to a range of different experiences and enable them to further connect with their community. Children also have the opportunity to enjoy regular walking excursions to a variety of locations.

During Vacation Care, school age children participate in a range of excursions within the local community and the greater Hobart area.
